Please see below details of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Roles currently available at UEA.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Science

The University of East Anglia was built to embody a radical new vision for higher education, where interdisciplinarity is crucial, and excellence in both research and teaching is valued. Since 1963, we have been breaking down boundaries between students and researchers, arts and science, business and social responsibility. Today, we are consistently ranked within the top quarter of universities in the UK for the quality of research and teaching and are tackling some of the key challenges of the changing world and breaking new boundaries across our priority research themes of climate, creative and health.

Following a period of challenge, we are moving with purpose to re-launch the University’s ambitious Vision 2030, setting out how we are going to “think boldly, do things differently and lead the way”.  This will also encompass a number of key new appointments to our Executive Team.  Joining UEA at this time offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the transformation of the University and to help set our future direction and ensure our prosperity and success.

As the University continues to innovate in pursuit of excellence, we are now seeking an exceptional Pro-Vice-Chancellor to lead our Faculty of Science and deliver on the University’s ambitions to grow and invest in science over the coming years. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, and a member of the University’s Executive Team, the PVC will encourage creativity and fruitful innovation in teaching and research, promote outstanding student experience and outcomes across the Faculty and play an important role in the leadership of the University.

The Faculty of Science is a vibrant community of 554 staff and 4200 students across seven Schools: Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Computing Sciences; Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Mathematics; Natural Sciences; Pharmacy; and Physics. The Faculty has excellent laboratory, and research and teaching infrastructure compatible with a high performing faculty.  Works are currently taking place on campus to develop modern science research laboratories in the iconic Lasdun Wall, which will also help us deliver our ambition to be a net zero campus by 2045 or earlier.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Science) will be an inspiring and inclusive leader with sustained academic leadership experience gained at a strategic level who can engage and inspire staff. They will be a leading academic in their discipline, committed to the transformational power of higher education and passionate about delivering high-impact research and an exceptional student experience. A strategic thinker, with a high degree of integrity and excellent judgement, they will also have a genuine commitment to the mission and values of the University.
