WHY CHOOSE KU LEUVEN?

KU Leuven was founded at the centre of the historic town of Leuven in 1425, making it Belgium's first university. It is considered the oldest Catholic university still in existence. Among its many accolades is being ranked the 15th best university in Europe in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2019, making it the highest ranked university from the low countries. It has a great reputation for teaching, research excellence, innovation and history.

50,000 students attend KU Leuven making the city a true student hub. It also welcomes thousands of international students each year, meaning the university has an international feel and diverse community. Around the campus you'll find a huge selection of bars and cafes.

Leuven is considered less touristy than Brussels but remains in a convenient location to reach other European cities. Paris and Amsterdam are a mere train ride away so Leuven could be a great place to live an authentic continental experience while also exploring Europe on your doorstep.

As you might expect, Leuven is home to many breweries and chocolate shops. Alongside the traditional food and drink, you will also find world cuisine and vegetarian restaurants.
