Introduction

The International Foundation prepares you for direct entry to Year 1 of an undergraduate degree. During the programme you'll develop relevant subject-specific knowledge and skills, in a range of subjects across law, film studies, international development and politics, and will improve your English language abilities.

Study and Assessment

What will I study?

All students complete modules tailored to your chosen degree subjects.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in each module. Assessment is designed to help you build on our success and meet the requirements for entry to the first year of a degree. Grades from the International Foundation programme do not count towards the final degree but they help the University assess your abilities in your chosen field of study.

Qualifications

English language requirements:

For a standard course, the English language requirements are IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in Writing and Reading and 4.5 in all other subskills) or equivalent.

For an extended course, the English language requirements are IELTS 4.5 overall (with a minimum of 4.5 in Writing and Reading and no less than 4.0 in other subskills) or equivalent.

Age requirements:

16 years and above. All students must be 16 years old by the time they start their INTO UEA course and turn 17 years old by 15 September of the year they start their degree at UEA.

Academic requirements:

Completion of 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.
