In this final-year degree programme, you’ll master both the core material and advanced topics in Artificial Intelligence. All modules have been carefully selected to address the key areas of AI and the fundamental disciplines that support it. The range of modules on offer reflects the current research strengths of the school, they also provide a pathway to postgraduate opportunities and are highly relevant to industry needs.
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
Teaching and Learning
At UEA, we believe that the best way to understand Artificial Intelligence is to examine the algorithms and build the system. Your final year is structured to immerse you in the most relevant areas of the field, allowing you to study six exciting modules from our specialised streams: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Signals & Vision. This flexible approach allows you to focus on the AI applications that fascinate you most.
You'll benefit from at least 20 hours of face-to-face contact time per semester, giving you direct access to academics and researchers who are pioneers in AI. Our teaching philosophy is rooted in hands-on practical. You'll move from theory to implementation, designing algorithms, training models, and processing complex datasets in our high-spec labs.
To ensure our international students thrive, we also provide additional specialised in-sessional English and Study support led by qualified teachers. There’ll also be drop-in sessions supported by personal tutors, ensuring you have the linguistic and academic tools to excel in your studies and beyond.
Assessment
In this final-year programme, your progress is measured through 100% coursework or team-based project assessments. This approach allows you to step into the role of an AI professional, working in groups to engineer intelligent systems, train complex models, and solve real-world data challenges.
By working together on a team-based project, you'll gain the vital industry skills that employers value most, including communication skills, agile project management, collaborative coding, and peer review. You'll bring your work to life by demonstrating your AI solutions in action and delivering professional oral presentations. This ensures you graduate not just with technical mastery, but with verbal skills needed to explain your AI logic and findings to stakeholders. You’ll be either a ready-to-hire innovator from day one, or a worthy candidate to be considered for a prestigious PGT programme.
