After the Course
You'll graduate with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead and support projects across a wide range of industries and sectors. You'll be prepared to commission, manage, and evaluate projects and programmes, helping organisations deliver successful outcomes. Career opportunities include project management, consultancy, project support, programme coordination, and project evaluation roles. You'll also be well placed to work within a Project Management Office (PMO) or Centre of Excellence, supporting strategic projects and organisational change initiatives.
Study and Modules
Structure
You’ll cover the fundamentals of modern project management from a range of perspectives. You'll adopt the perspective of the project manager, and the tools and techniques of project management, but also that of the project client and of project team members.
You'll also explore the concept of Project-Based Organisation (PBO) and examine the wider role of projects in society. You'll focus on issues of risk and accountability, considering the governance of projects.
You'll study the interaction of people and organisations, and in particular the questions of leadership and teamwork. You'll be introduced to business research methods and the thinking behind them, to help you both undertake and understand business research literature.
You'll also have the option to undertake an industry sponsored project or dissertation. Additional optional modules will allow you to tailor the course to your own interests and ambitions.

Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Teaching and Learning, and Assessment
Teaching and Learning
You'll learn through a range of activities and modes. In addition to traditional lectures and textbooks, you'll need to spend considerable time in workshops, working individually and in groups to analyse and solve problems, develop proposals, and make recommendations. You'll need to delve into the academic and professional literature on project management, reading and summarising textbooks and journal articles. You'll create written documents, plans, analyses, and reflections. You'll have to present work to fellow students, teaching staff and practitioners from industry, and then field questions about your arguments. Your learning will be supported by the Virtual Learning Environment, giving access to textual sources, video material, podcasts, quizzes, and other learning opportunities.
Assessment
Assessment takes several forms including multiple choice and short answer examinations and tests, presentations, substantial written work in the form of project plans, reports and critical reviews and structured reflection. You'll also be examined by “professional conversations” that give staff an opportunity to probe the depth of your learning. Assessment is based on both individual and team tasks, but where assessment is of a team task, there will always be consideration of individual contribution and learning.

Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading):

IELTS: 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in each component).
