With a degree in MSc Marketing and Management, you could launch a career as a:
Throughout the course, you'll develop the professional skills employers look for through practical projects, presentations, teamwork, and real-world business challenges. You'll build confidence in communicating ideas, solving problems, and applying marketing and management knowledge in professional settings. UEA’s Career Central will support you with CVs, applications, interviews, networking opportunities, and career planning, helping you stand out in a competitive job market.
You'll graduate ready to pursue a wide range of marketing and management careers across the private, public, and third sectors, both in the UK and internationally. With a combination of marketing expertise, business insight, and leadership skills, you'll be well placed to contribute to organisations of all sizes and adapt to changing industry demands. Employability is embedded throughout the course. You'll have opportunities to engage with industry professionals and alumni, including through our annual Employability Week, helping you build valuable connections and gain insight into a variety of career pathways.
In your first semester, you’ll gain a firm foundation in both marketing and management, as well as other essential business functions.
You’ll explore the history of marketing before going on to look at marketing strategy. You’ll study the theory of marketing and discover different marketing models. You’ll gain experience in key marketing methods, from print to digital, to the evolving channels of social media.
You’ll discover the key theories and skills of management. You’ll learn how to make successful management decisions, as well as how to communicate, allocate tasks, run and contribute to effective meetings, and how to work with others to get the best from them.
Your first semester is a great chance to explore different areas of marketing and business and discover the areas you might like to specialise in during the rest of your studies and future career.
In your second semester, you’ll have the chance to specialise by choosing a range of optional modules from a selected list. You’ll develop your ability to think critically and strategically, ensuring that you graduate ready to think for yourself and make your own decisions. You won’t just study the theories and practices of today – you’ll learn how to critically analyse and assess them. That means you’ll be ready to handle whatever new theories and tools arise during your career.
Unlike other Master’s courses where your third semester is spent on independent study, you’ll benefit from a third semester of taught modules, consolidating your learning, and further developing your critical thinking skills.
Across all your modules, your studies will be grounded in the real world. For example, you’ll develop your thinking by interrogating the strategic marketing plans of real businesses, asking how you might do things differently, or what techniques might work in other businesses, and case studies will have a global outlook.
You’ll study a year-long Employability Skills module to equip you with the relevant skills you’ll need to seek, secure and undertake your placement. You’ll benefit from workshops on CV writing, interview practice, and use of LinkedIn. You’ll have one-to-one meetings that will help you plan your application strategy and give you opportunities for mock interviews. Sessions will be a mixture of online and in-person. This is a pass/fail module, and you’ll need to meet the requirements to progress to your second year.
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
In the first semester, you'll focus on securing a placement that matches your career ambitions, supported every step of the way with dedicated guidance and in-person workshops. These sessions will help you strengthen your applications, build confidence, and prepare for the recruitment process. If you don't secure a placement, you'll complete three employer-led industry projects with organisations across a range of UK sectors, ensuring you still graduate with valuable professional experience.
At the end of the module, you'll submit a portfolio documenting your placement search and a reflective report on your placement or industry projects. Both are assessed on a pass/fail basis.
By the end of the year, you'll have gained valuable workplace experience, strengthened your CV, expanded your professional network, and developed the confidence and skills to take the next step in your career, whether in the UK or internationally.

Throughout your studies there will be an emphasis not only on learning how to apply key marketing and management theories, but also how to think about them critically in a modern context.
