On our BSc Financial Economics and Banking (Final Year Entry), you’ll gain the insight and expertise needed to navigate the complexities of the financial world and launch a rewarding career
You’ll explore how banks operate, why financial markets rise and fall, how global trade links economies, and how economic forces affect everyday life. A highlight of the programme is your exclusive access to the Finance, Economics & Data Science Lab (FEDS), powered by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). In this cutting-edge environment, you’ll work with real-time market data, global pricing analytics, and exclusive Reuters news — the same professional tools used by analysts and traders worldwide — to test ideas, build models, and explore financial markets in depth.
Throughout your studies, you’ll benefit from outstanding academic and personal support. Study and Modules
Structure
This one-year, final-year-entry course includes core modules in banking, international and corporate finance, behavioural finance, financial markets, trade, introductory economics, and quantitative banking.
Over two semesters, you’ll study three modules each term - beginning with essential foundations and progressing to hands-on applications that bring finance and banking theory to life.
You’ll explore how financial principles apply to real-world challenges — gaining insight into why banks are vital to the economy, how they manage risk, and how crises, regulation, and climate change continue to shape the global financial landscape.
Compulsory Modules
Important Information
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
Teaching and Learning
You'll attend large group lectures designed to build a strong academic foundation. Interactive technology, including tools like Wooclap, will create engaging learning experiences and help track your weekly progress. You’ll also have access to a variety of resources beyond textbooks, such as lecture notes, pre-recorded videos, recordings of your lectures, and online practice platforms, supporting your independent study.
Our teaching is informed by cutting-edge research and real-world case studies to keep you aligned with the latest industry developments. You’ll not only master current theories but also build the critical skills needed to adapt as new ideas and practices emerge throughout your career.
Workshops and seminars will offer practical experience, with teachers guiding you through hands-on activities in groups to apply the new methods learned in lectures. Additionally, you'll engage in small group work led by academics. These activities are complemented by additional study skills and support sessions.
Assessment
You’ll have a wide range of assessments across the different modules, contributing in various proportions to your overall module mark. Assessment methods will include a variety of formats such as essays, consultancy reports, and take-home projects.
To support your learning, your assessments will incorporate the use of AI, and you'll also take part in formative assessments, which won’t count towards your final mark but will provide valuable feedback to help you gauge your progress and refine your skills.
Having a variety of assessments is crucial for improving your employability prospects. We aim to consistently equip you with a wide range of workplace skills and provide you with the evidence you need to demonstrate these skills to potential employers.

Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading):
