MA Arts of Africa, Oceania And The Americas Scholarships
The Sainsbury Research Unit has a number of fully funded scholarships to support outstanding students pursuing the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at the University of East Anglia.
The Full Scholarship, for a limited number of applicants, is designed to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented students from accessing the MA programme.
We encourage applications from the regions of Africa, Oceania and the Americas.
Each Full Scholarship includes:
The full cost of the Home or International Tuition Fees
A maintenance grant of £14,072 (£1171 per month)
Additional reimbursement, if applicable, of Visa costs & UK health surcharge, plus one return journey between home and Norwich (economy class), subject to valid receipts.
An additional £650 for travel costs related to MA, including museum visits.

Applicants are eligible for consideration for full scholarship if they meet these criteria:
The applicant holds an Offer of a Place from the UEA for the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas
To be considered, candidates will be required to write and submit a short essay by 13 April 2026 and to make a short online presentation during the week commencing 20 April 2026.

Restrictions with other Scholarships
Students receiving sponsorship covering full fees by an outside body or government organization are not eligible for this scholarship. Government or educational loans that require repayment do not affect eligibility.
Application Process
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must first apply for a place on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas by 20 March 2026
Having received and accepted an offer of admission, eligible candidates will be invited to write and submit a short essay of approximately 1,000 words
The essay question will be sent to eligible candidates no later than 30 March 2026, and the essay needs to be submitted by 13 April 2026
Candidates will also be asked to give a short (5 minute) presentation during the week of 20 April 2026, outlining why they should be offered a scholarship
