MA Arts of Africa, Oceania And The Americas Scholarships
The Sainsbury Research Unit is offering a limited number of fully funded scholarships for both international and home students, to support outstanding students pursuing the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at UEA.
Each scholarship includes:
Full tuition fees (£25,000 for international students, or £11,750 for home students).
A Maintenance Grant of £15,000
Reimbursement of visa costs and the UK health surcharge, plus one return journey between home and Norwich (economy class), subject to valid receipts.
An additional £650 for travel costs related to the MA, including museum visits.
You do not need to submit a separate application for this scholarship as all applicants for the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas will be invited to an admission interview, and eligible candidates will be identified during this process.

To be considered for this scholarship you must be in receipt of an offer of a place, by UEA on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, for the academic year 2027/28.
This scholarship is open to both home and international students.
We encourage you to apply for this course by 31st January 2027 as there are a limited number of scholarships available.
This scholarship is designed to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented applicants from pursuing the MA.
Applicants whose first language is not English are encouraged to take an English Proficiency Test prior to applying for the Full Scholarship. For a list of accepted qualifications to meet this requirement, please visit English Language Equivalencies.
Restrictions with other Scholarships
Students in receipt of SRU Open Scholarships are not eligible for other UEA Scholarships. Students receiving sponsorship covering full fees by an outside body or government organization are not eligible for this scholarship. Government or educational loans that require repayment do not affect eligibility.

Application Process
Apply for your spot on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas for the academic year 2027/28 by 31st January 2027.
Offer holders will be invited to an admissions interview.
Following the admissions interview, eligible candidates will be invited to submit a short essay, with a deadline of 8th March 2027. You will be notified by 20th February 2027 if you have been invited to this stage of the process.
Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to give a 5 minute presentation during the week commencing 15th March 2027.
Following the presentation successful candidates will be notified that they will receive the scholarship.
Bursaries:
The SRU also has some bursaries available for candidates who are not awarded a full scholarship, to assist with the cost of living expenses.
