After the Course
Our Career Central team is still there for graduates for up to three years after their graduation. Study and Modules
Structure
By combining environmental science with management, economics and organisational decision-making, the one-year course equips you to address sustainability challenges across businesses, governments and civil society.
The course architecture (across two schools) allows you to access modules in both environmental science and business disciplines. You may tailor your curriculum according to your career goals and personal interests.
Teaching on the programme is strongly practice-based, with a walking the walk approach that applies theory to real sustainability challenges through case studies and applied projects.
You’ll develop hands-on skills in sustainability assessment, data analysis and the use of tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) or impact assessment methods, alongside core professional competencies in stakeholder engagement, teamwork, leadership and strategic communication.

Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
Teaching and Learning, and Assessment
Teaching and Learning
The course comprises compulsory modules focused on developing research skills, completing the dissertation, and engaging with flagship modules delivered by the two schools. You’ll also select from a range of modules aligned with the course profile
Assessment
The master’s dissertation is the largest element of assessment. This is complemented by module-based assessments, which may include coursework, report writing, class tests, and examinations, depending on the module.

- English Foreign Language
Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading):

IELTS: 6.0 overall with minimum 5.5 in each component.
Test dates should be within 2 years of the course start date.

Fees and Funding
Tuition fees for the Academic Year 2027/28 are:
- UK Students: £12,950

International Students: £27,000
If you choose to study part-time, the fee per annum will be half the annual fee for that year, or a pro-rata fee for the module credit you are taking (only available for Home students).
We estimate living expenses at £1,171 per month.
