On this exciting MSc FinTech, AI and Data Science course, you’ll gain essential programming skills alongside industry-relevant knowledge of blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, corporate finance, and data science. You’ll also learn how AI is transforming financial decision-making, how data uncovers new opportunities, and how emerging technologies are reshaping risk and investment management. In our state-of-the-art FinTech laboratory, you’ll solve real-world challenges using big data and live market insights via the Bloomberg platform.
Advances in technology and artificial intelligence are radically reshaping the financial sector, with a growing demand for professionals capable of navigating both financial markets and technological landscapes. This course will help you develop technical proficiency, strategic insight, and a deep understanding of the ethical and security challenges facing financial innovations. Whether your career aspirations lie in financial technology startups, global banks, technology consulting, or analytics-driven leadership, upon graduation you'll be prepared to lead at the forefront of finance and intelligent systems.
Our campus sits at the core of one of the most vibrant and fast-growing FinTech hubs in the UK. You'll have access to an extensive network of industry partners including the Norwich Financial Industry Group and the CISI East Anglian Branch.

Study and Modules
Structure
Our course offers a unique coverage of finance and technology skills that aligns with industry trends and meets the demands of the modern job market.
In the first semester, you'll gain a firm foundation in corporate financial strategies and financial technologies. You'll also have the option to develop essential programming skills or a more in-depth understanding of AI in accounting, value chain or marketing.
In your second semester you'll delve deeper into the subject with specialist modules in data science and artificial intelligence for business and finance decisions.
At this point you can choose to do a dissertation which allows you to demonstrate academic ability by conducting research that contributes to the fast-changing field of FinTech. You'll learn the methods to conduct robust research and further develop your analytical skills and critical thinking ready for further study or the workplace.
You also have the option of doing an industry sponsored project that offers applied FinTech, business analytics and AI experience. You'll work directly with clients, understand their needs, and build business analytics, FinTech and AI solutions. You'll acquire highly valuable work experience, build a professional network and develop the skills necessary to excel in the workplace.
As an alternative to a dissertation or an industry sponsored project, you’ll have the choice to deepen FinTech and AI operational and governance skills, highly sought after when working in a corporate finance or governance team, by choosing optional modules from a selected list.
Unlike other Master’s courses where your third semester is only spent on independent study, on this course you'll consolidate your learning by further advancing strategic leadership of FinTech and business analytics and AI-based projects.
During the whole year, you'll apply concepts in our state-of-the-art FinTech laboratory using the industry-leading Bloomberg platform.
Compulsory Modules
Optional A Modules
(Credits: 20)Optional B Modules
(Credits: 40)Optional C Modules
(Credits: 20)Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
Teaching and Learning
You'll learn through a mix of lectures, seminars, workshops, guest lectures and independent study, focusing on interactive learning and applying theoretical concepts on real-world and industry-relevant applications in FinTech and AI labs.
You'll benefit from research-led and industry-focused teaching, learning from highly qualified academics and researchers, as well as practitioners with experience working in industry at the highest level.
The use of big data and live financial market data via industry-leading platforms and databases such as Bloomberg and LSEG Workspace will be vital in allowing you to learn by doing.
You'll work both independently and in teams, building teamwork, leadership, management, and critical thinking skills. In all your modules, you'll look at issues from a domestic and international perspective. This ensures you’re ready to excel on the international stage, with skills that are relevant anywhere.
Assessment
You'll experience a variety of assessment methods which include coursework assignments, demonstrations, presentation, and in-class tests.
In most assignments, you'll attempt to solve an authentic finance and business problem for a client. Each assignment will be supported by formative assessment – assessment for learning – that will give you a chance to test your skills and knowledge and receive feedback prior to summative assessment – assessment of learning – so you have a chance to improve.
