How you'll work
Working closely with a supervisory team of two academics gives you the support to carry out your own independent research and make your own mark.
We have a wealth of remarkable academics. To know which team will be right for you, we suggest you check out people in your area of work and read up on some of their publications. Identify at least one member of staff at UEA who would be a suitable supervisor, and contact them to express your interest and discuss your research proposal.

As a PhD researcher at the School for Global Development you will be joining an active group of committed, passionate and innovative young researchers from across the world who aim to have a real impact, working on topics across global development.
At our research-intensive university and school we provide networks, resources and vision to match your professional and research ambitions.
Your first year will normally focus on advancing your research and analytical skills. You will have access to first-class in house training, including through the Social Sciences Graduate School Training Programme at the UEA Doctoral College , and you will have a small budget for specialised training out house if required.
You will have dedicated office space and opportunities to engage in teaching. As a PhD candidate, you’ll find the school and university to be a supportive group and institution that truly values its academic research community. We set the scene for for a rich social life where you meet like-minded and other colleagues and make friendships for life.
