Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
You'll learn through a range of activities and modes. In addition to traditional lectures and textbooks, you'll spend considerable time in workshops, working individually and in groups to analyse and solve problems, develop proposals, and make recommendations.
You'll need to delve into the academic and professional literature on project management, reading and summarising textbooks and journal articles. You'll create written documents, plans and analyses. You’ll also present your work to fellow students, teaching staff and industry practitioners, responding to questions and discussing your ideas.
Your learning will be supported by the Virtual Learning Environment, giving access to textual sources, video material, podcasts, quizzes and other learning opportunities.
You’ll complete both formative and summative assessments during the course.
Formative assessment provides feedback to help you improve your performance. These activities allow you to practise key skills before your final assessments. Formative tasks may include short written assignments, plans for larger projects, presentations, discussions, or short tests.
Summative assessment measures what you’ve learned and contributes to your final mark. These assessments may include multiple-choice and short-answer exams, presentations, project plans, reports, critical reviews, and professional discussions with academic staff. Assessment includes both individual and group work, with individual contributions recognised in team projects.
