Your University Questions, Answered.

Do I have to get drunk every night? Helder, Lisbon

Our Answer:

From a distance, it may seem like a prerequisite of becoming a Fresher is to over indulge on one too many drops of the good stuff... but this is far from expected. At UEA, we have a Red Bar and a Blue Bar where a lot of evening activity and socialising is centred around. Believe it or not, both these campus bars serve soft drink, juices, mocktails and (gasp!) water.

Then there's the LCR (which stands for Lower Common Room) which transforms into an epic club for specific themed nights each week. This is where you will likely spend plenty of your first year Tuesday and Saturday nights, meet new people, sample the finest Vodka Red Bull in town and lose your jacket at least once. The LCR hosts incredible musical talent throughout the academic year: big names such as RizzleKicks, Noah and the Whale and Nelly are just a few on the long list of acts!

However, there's no denying that university is a hugely exciting time in a young person's life when you try new things, hate them, try them again, and suddenly they’re the best thing EVER! We're talking about olives... While studying at UEA you can do any number of things to entertain your evenings, whether or not you add alcohol is entirely up to you. Bit of advice: If you do decide to indulge, Zest, the student café on campus, serve an incredible hangover-fighting fry up.
