Applicants with these scores may also take first year modules (Level 4) in any school apart from the schools of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, Chemistry, and Pharmacy.
For all other modules (Level 5 and 6), and all modules in Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, Chemistry, and Pharmacy, applicants must have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in each category.
English language qualification waiver
If you are:
studying a degree taught exclusively in English and
planning to come to UEA for a semester only, and
entering the UK as a non-visa national/with a Visitor visa (rather than a Student visa).
You can submit a letter from your home university confirming that:
you have at least IELTS 6.5 / high B2 level English, and
that you are studying a degree taught exclusively in English.
If your document is not in English, you must provide a translation.
We accept:
a signed and stamped letter from your home university confirming the grade you received in English on the certificate, or
a full translation done by an official translator, or by your home institution (signed and stamped).
If you have any questions, please email visiting.uea@uea.ac.uk.
If you have a lower English level, you may apply to our partner INTO for short English programmes, including Pre-Sessional Programmes and Study Abroad With English.
