Vicky - one of our Greek students

Hi everyone! I’m Vicky and I am currently in my third year studying Pharmacology and Drug Discovery.

Moving to the UK to study is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life, however leaving home at the age of 18 certainly isn’t easy. UEA is such a welcoming and friendly place, it made the transition so much easier and the support available is truly remarkable. Even from my first week, so many events were being held around campus, it was all very exciting and there was something for everyone. It is also a great time to explore Norwich, a truly very beautiful and safe city. The small cafes on every corner, the unique shops as well as the lovely market are just a few of the city’s hidden secrets.

Staying on campus during my first year made a huge difference for me, sharing this new experience with eleven of the nicest people I have met truly made it that much more special. The campus also offers everything you need, as well as beautiful places to escape to in between lectures, or for a BBQ with your friends.

I was also very fascinated by the number of societies and clubs available on campus. Joining the volleyball club and gave me the opportunity to play for UEA’s first team which was such a great experience. I met many people that shared the same passion for this sport as me and travelled to other universities with them to compete in tournaments and leagues. As a committee member of the Pharmacology society, I have also had the chance to organise events for both students and staff and interact with people with similar interests to me.

I do often miss the sun in Greece, but the adorable bunnies hopping around campus make up for it. In my final year I can safely say I have made friends for life and I am finishing an amazing course. UEA truly is wonderful!
