The MSc in Global Public Health at UEA is designed to provide a broad yet flexible foundation in global health, with a focus on sustainability, evidence-based practice, and real-world application.
You'll develop a strong theoretical and analytical understanding of global public health. You'll explore topics including health systems, epidemiology, sustainability and health inequalities, while gaining the skills to apply evidence-based approaches to public health practice. You'll also have opportunities to tailor your studies by exploring areas such as climate change and development, health economics, or intercultural communication.
As your studies progress, you'll strengthen your research and analytical skills, learning how to monitor and evaluate global health interventions and policies using quantitative methods. You'll continue to personalise your learning by focusing on topics that align with your interests and career aspirations, such as globalisation, gender and health, or leadership in international settings.
Instead of a traditional dissertation, you'll complete an Extended Project, where you'll critically evaluate a real-world global health intervention or policy. Your final submission will include a briefing paper, a poster presentation and an oral reflection—formats commonly used by public health professionals. This practical approach enables you to graduate with work-ready outputs that prepare you for careers in policy, research and implementation.
By the end of the course, you'll have developed a well-rounded, practice-oriented understanding of global public health, with the knowledge, analytical skills and practical experience to address today's most pressing global health challenges.
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
