Safety, Support and Reporting

Starting university is an exciting time, full of new opportunities and experiences but it can also bring challenges or situations you may not have faced before. At UEA, you’re never expected to manage these things on your own.

Support for Your Wellbeing

If you’re feeling homesick, worried about settling in, or finding it difficult to adjust to student life, our Student Journey and Support Services team is here to help. Whether you’d like someone to talk to, practical advice, or ongoing support, our staff are ready to listen and guide you.

Your wellbeing truly matters to us, and we want every student to feel confident, connected, and supported throughout their time at UEA.

Reporting Concerns Safely

We hope your experience at UEA will be positive, safe, and enjoyable. However, if you ever experience or witness bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour, you can report it through Report and Support.

Using Report and Support allows you to:

  • Tell us what has happened

  • Access appropriate support

  • Choose between submitting a named or anonymous report

Every report is taken seriously and handled with sensitivity, confidentiality, and care. You never have to face a difficult situation alone- we’re here to support you at every step.

Campus Safety and Security

Your safety is a top priority at UEA. Our dedicated Security Team is based on campus and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • High visibility: Officers wear UEA Security uniforms and can be found across campus on foot, by bicycle, and in marked vehicles.

  • Rapid response: They patrol the campus regularly and respond quickly to incidents or concerns.

  • Professional training: All officers are trained to a high standard, including first aid, emergency response, and incident management.

Whether you need urgent help, advice, or reassurance, our Security Team is always available.

Finding Support Through Faith and Reflection

UEA aims to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all faiths and none. Our Faith Centre offers:

  • Space for reflection, prayer, and quiet contemplation

  • Regular meetings hosted by a range of student-led faith groups

  • Friendly support from our Chaplaincy team

Our Chaplains are here to offer pastoral care, answer questions, and help you connect with a community that feels right for you.
