CULTURE AND ENTERTAINMENT
Explore UEA by day and night.
Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts
At UEA, there’s inspiration around every corner. We’re one of few universities that has its own art gallery packed with international names such as Bacon and Picasso.
Housed in a fantastic building designed by world-renowned architect Norman Foster, the permanent collection was donated by the Sainsbury family and is complemented by ever-changing exhibits from exciting modern artists.
When lectures are over and you're in the mood to meet up with friends, head over to Bar SU. Comprised of two separate bars for you to relax in, Bar SU combines cheap drinks with a friendly atmosphere as well as regular theme nights and events to mix it up from week to week.
Nick Rayns LCR
If you like live music, you’ll love the Nick Rayns LCR – UEA’s high-capacity music venue. We attract big name acts like Bastille, Years & Years and Coldplay as well as an exciting roster of talented, new acts.

We take your safety on campus very seriously. We have a zero tolerance approach to any kind of harassment or hate crime and we have specially trained officers at night-time events so you can have a safe and enjoyable night out. The Union of UEA Students also runs a safe taxi scheme.
Not only does UEA have its own nature trails, we also have a sculpture trail featuring works by some of the world’s most popular sculptors including Anthony Gormley, Henry Moore, Ian Tyson, Liliane Lijn, Henry Clyne and John Hoskin. The collection is expanding all the the time and recent additions include the Tatlin’s Tower, gifted to SCVA by the Royal Academy of Arts.
Not only does UEA have the first major building designed by world famous architect Norman Foster, it’s also home to the Denys Lasdun classic, the Ziggurats. Voted among the top 10 best university buildings in Britain, these beautiful modernist buildings are lived in by current students who wake up to the amazing parkland view.
UEA has its own fully equipped Drama Studio right on campus. Set up as a flexible theatre space, you can see everything here from plays to standup and literature events.
Recent productions have included King Lear by Shakespeare and The Importance of Being Earnest as well as a popular annual cabaret. Like everything at UEA, it's a collaborative effort, so there are plenty of opportunities if you want to take the limelight or lend a hand backstage.
