Hi! My name is Eda Sansel Ustun and I’m a fourth year medical student at UEA.
I heard about UEA when I went to a UK universities fair back home in Istanbul and had a lovely conversation with a university representative there. When I came to UEA for the first time for my medical school interview, I immediately felt at home and could see myself studying here. I was over the moon when I was offered a place to study Medicine at UEA. I chose to study here because of the top rankings for student satisfaction and best prepared junior doctors, along with a beautiful campus and excellent student facilities, I thought UEA is a great place to start my university journey.
I worked with an agent in Istanbul which helped me with the application process. I applied in October and around December time I was invited for an interview in February. I received my International Baccalaureate results in January. A few weeks after my interview, I received an unconditional offer to study Medicine at UEA.
I thought Norwich was such a lovely little city. Having lived in one of the biggest cities in the world for my entire life, I was slightly worried about whether Norwich would satisfy my social needs, however it turned out to have everything I needed and more. It's a great city to live in while studying at university. The town centre is only 15-20 minutes by bus from UEA, with loads of independent shops and cafes. If you're looking for a more cultural experience, the Norwich Castle and the Norwich Cathedral are perfect for a unique visit.
As a fourth year medical student, I'm very much enjoying my course so far. One of the many things I like about studying at UEA is that there is a great student support network at UEA, providing students with useful advice and help find solutions to their problems. UEA runs a wonderful system of peer support known as PAL (Peer-Assisted Learning), which is a student-led initiative that supports undergraduate students in their first year at university. I found PAL really useful in my first year at UEA and therefore I became a PAL mentor in my second year, supporting the new first years with their studies.
If you are looking to have the full university experience at a wonderful campus with numerous facilities including a 24-hr library, student-run venues and entertainment centres, a renowned art gallery, sustainable buildings, a lovely atmosphere and the beautiful Broads right on your doorstep, UEA is the place to be!
