UEA Russia Ambassador Ekaterina

Hello there! My name is Ekaterina Dudakova and I am studying BA English Literature and Drama at UEA.

Before applying and coming to UEA, I have been studying on the foundation year programme in one of the UK colleges and considered an enormous variety of the universities that I could choose from. Eventually I have chosen University of East Anglia and have never regretted my decision for the several reasons.

First of all, the academic diversity: the course of English Literature and Drama at UEA is so spacious that, for example, in the second year it gives you a chance to choose all your modules of studying exactly by yourself, which, of course, gives you an opportunity to build your own path through university and, in my opinion, is a fantastic chance to explore those subjects that are interesting specifically to you. At university to study and develop yourself academically it is very important to actually like and be engaged by the subject you study, and UEA gives a perfect opportunity for you to do so.

The second reason why I chose UEA was its friendly environment, and it can be argued that it is one of the vital reasons that must be considered in case of choosing where to study. The pleasant experience of settling in in the absolutely new conditions and city/country is very important in terms of feeling yourself comfortable among the people around. UEA gives you this chance from the first day you come here: there are so many socials that you can participate in, either during the day and night. Moreover, UEA is famous for its clubs and societies diversity: there are over 200 of them overall, from which I personally chose Ballet, International Students Society and Filmmaking society.

Apart from academic and social opportunities, UEA gives you a chance to explore yourself in all kinds of entrepreneurship. With the help of the Career Central Service you can try yourself as an employee or a volunteer, depending on your area of interest and the weekly timetable. Furthermore, if you experience any personal issues in your own experience while studying at university, there are many services that can provide help and support, such as Student Support Service.

If you are looking forward to an excellent academic experience together with an opportunity to try yourself in a different kind of entrepreneurship and, of course, active social gathering, the University of East Anglia is a perfect place for all of this.

In case you have any questions or want to find out more about life at the UEA, you can chat to me directly through the Ask a Student platform or email: russianstudents@uea.ac.uk.
