Melani - one of our Italian students

Hi everyone! I am Melani and I am from Rome, Italy. I am currently in my third year studying International Relations at UEA.

I chose to study at UEA because it has one of the best rankings among the universities here in the United Kingdom. Also, what attracted me the most is the great focus that UEA has on the career development of every student. I am in my final year and looking into my potential career paths after graduating. In this, UEA services and support are of great help. To name a few, I found it very helpful to meet the Career Advisers from UEA CareerCentral, and to register for the Mentorship Programme. Both of these services helped me hugely to better understand and navigate my career options and network with career professionals who work in my field of interest.

My course is very varied because it gives you the opportunity to choose your modules from a wide range of fields such as international development, media studies, or history. This enabled me to tailor my studies according to my interests and my future aspirations. For example, last year I took a module in Gender and Development and one in Media and Identity. Also, a perk of being a member of the School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies (PPL) at UEA, is that you have the chance to take a language module for free during each semester. I really enjoyed attending Spanish classes.

I am happy to have made UEA and Norwich my second home. They are the perfect mix between entertainment and tranquility, urban life and rural areas, which matches my tastes and needs. The student community is very varied, with people coming from all over the world and from different walks of life. Here you will be able to grow both academically and personally in a safe and welcoming environment.
