Ines - one of our Bulgarian students

Hi, my name is Ines and I am doing a Master’s in Environmental Sciences after completing my undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations, also at UEA!

I chose to come to UEA as it was highly recommended to me by the company that was helping me to apply to study abroad. I looked it up online and fell in love with the course - it covered all the topics that I was interested in. However, moving away from home and becoming a university student made me grow so much and rediscover myself to the point where I no longer wanted to work as a politician as I originally wanted to. I became very passionate about the environment and I believe that being at UEA really contributed to that. I decided that this is what I want to pursue as a career so the next step for me was to do a Master’s in that field and I had no doubt that I wanted to do it nowhere else but here! Not only did I fall in love with the campus and the overall vibe of UEA, made amazing friends here but I also found out that UEA is one of the leading universities for environmental sciences, especially in the field of climate change. When looking at the list of lecturers, they are all leading experts in their field. I was super excited when I got accepted.

Besides academically, UEA allows you to grow as an individual outside of your course, which is something I absolutely love about being here. One way to do this is by getting involved with lots of extracurricular activities. During my time here, I have been a member of various societies - from Korean and Latin American to debating and boxing. I have been on the committee of three societies as well, which allowed me to improve my team working skills in addition to meeting so many new people and making amazing memories. I can honestly say that I have had the time of my life being a student at UEA thanks to those opportunities.

Living in Norwich is also an absolute blessing. The city is great for students - it has a lot of green spaces, a lot of bars and restaurants, and lots of events taking place so you will never get bored. At the same time, due to its size it is very easy to navigate which is makes the life of international students much easier.

I have had the best times in the last four years being at UEA and while I do miss my family, I really feel at home in Norwich and I really feel a sense of belonging to the UEA community in particular.
