Sainsbury Research Unit Post-Brexit Scholarships in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas
The Sainsbury Research Unit offers scholarships to a limited number of outstanding applicants on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas from the EU, EEA and Switzerland.
Post-Brexit Scholarships are designed to ensure, for a limited number of applicants, that financial circumstances do not prevent talented applicants from the EU, EEA and Switzerland pursuing the MA.
Each Post-Brexit Scholarship includes:
Each full scholarship includes:
International tuition fee of £25000 for international students, or £11750 for UK students)
Maintenance Grant (£15,000)
Reimbursement, if applicable, of Visa costs & UK health surcharge, plus one return journey between home and Norwich (economy class), subject to valid receipts
An additional £650 for travel costs related to MA, including museum visits
Eligibility
You are eligible for a Post-Brexit Scholarship under these terms if you meet all these criteria:
You are in receipt of an offer of a place, by the University of East Anglia, on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, for the academic year 2027/28
You are a national of or domiciled in the EU, EEA or Switzerland
Applicants whose first language is not English are encouraged to take an English Proficiency Test prior to applying for the Full Scholarship. For a list of accepted qualifications to meet this requirement, please visit English Language Equivalencies

Restrictions with other Scholarships
Students awarded SRU Post-Brexit scholarships may not be eligible for other UEA Scholarships. Students receiving sponsorship covering full fees by an outside body or government organization are not eligible for this scholarship. Government or educational loans that require repayment do not affect eligibility.
Application Process
To be considered for this scholarship, you need to apply for your place on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, by 31 January 2027, and to have received an offer of a place by the University of East Anglia for the academic year 2027/28
Applicants who have been offered a place will be invited by 20 February 2027 to submit a short essay, with a deadline on 8 March 2027
Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to give a 5 minute presentation during the week commencing 15 March 2027

If you wish to be considered for the SRU Full Scholarship, the deadline to apply for a place on the MA is 31 January 2027 for both Home and International students.
