Which year did you study your MBA, what was your job role and location before you joined and what is your job role / location now?
I joined Norwich Business School for the full-time MBA programme in 2013. Prior to this, I was working in a Swiss based global shipping company as an Operations Manager in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Currently, I am a Manager in Ernst & Young (EY) focusing in providing Program Management expertise for EY clients across Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region
Why did you join the UEA MBA programme?
I chose UEA MBA over other offers from top UK universities due to 3 reasons
1. January start date – The decision to do an MBA was taken around August and I needed time to do my research on the best universities in UK and interact with the faculty and former students to finalize the university option
2. Skype Interview – I had 4 offers from top universities but only 2 of them actually wanted to screen me before admission. I felt this was very important as the Skype session I had with the UEA MBA Director was one of the key reasons to my decision. I explained to him my background and he was honest and frank about the expectations from the University and the real effort required for the 2 consultancy projects that would be happening alongside my studies.
3. Consultancy Projects – this was the icing on the cake for me as the projects provided an excellent avenue to practice what I had learned from UEA. I cannot stress the importance this played in shaping my future in project management. The teams are assigned by the MBA Course Directors so that each one of us can contribute in a meaningful manner. My team mates on both projects were very senior and much more experienced than me in Consulting but they were very supportive and encouraging towards me which enabled me to lead the two projects and learn about project management in real time.
