My name is Bao Chau Nguyen and I am from Vietnam. I am studying MSc International Business Finance and Economics.
Coming to a new country with many uncertainties but choosing UEA was the only thing that was certain. For our first day, the School of Economics set up a welcoming session for newcomers. In this meeting, I got to know my classmates and future lecturers. It was refreshing to see the lecturers talking to me with much warmth and enthusiasm.
My timetable was a good fit for my daily life. I have learned so much from the UEA. All my lecturers were passionate about their subjects and enjoyed sharing knowledge with their students. All the materials such as notes, slides and videos were well-prepared and always posted on Blackboard. The notes and slides were very comprehensive and easy to understand, even for beginners.
The Employability events that happened each week always gave out good advice for future careers. The speakers shared their valuable experience about their occupations, I have learnt plenty of interesting things about the UK job market. These events helped me and my friends greatly in our next passage of life, entering the job market.
Each student was assigned to one academic advisor, who helped them to navigate their new life in the UK and academic problems. My advisor, Dr. Raychaudhuri has given me many advice regarding my future career path, which directions are suitable, and even where to have good food in Norwich.
During my dissertation period, my supervisor (Dr Ritchie Woodard) was attentive and helpful. He provided me with insightful advice and recommendations, detailed notes, which support me greatly in this important paper. Not only my supervisor, but other teachers in School of Economics were all supportive, assisted students with Stata modelling, Python, and where to find good literature sources.
The School’s administration is responsive and arranged many Coffee and Cookie Chat, which is a nice way for people to get to know each other more.
UEA has taught me many valuable knowledge and I hope to utilise them in my future job.
