3-14 November UEA Library Digital Screens - E-Exhibition “Occupied / Unoccupied”: a photography project born from war, memory, and healing by Ukrainian photographer Iryna Sozanska

1.00-9.00pm Thomas Paine Study Centre Foyer – artworks exhibitions, photo-exhibition “Ukrainian Beauty without Borders”, photo-zone with Ukrainian accessories, charitable fair, bake sale, ruffle lottery

1.30-3.00pm - handmade workshops (printing Ukrainian traditional patterns on fabric bags – ‘Vybiyka’; weaving bracelets with ribbons – ‘Fenichka’, beadwork)

3.00-4.30pm - Ukrainian folk songs workshop (all the songs are transliterated and adapted for the non-speakers)

5.00-7.00pm Thomas Paine Lecture Theatre - Opening Ceremony, guests greetings, the 'carousel' of presentations:

2.00-4.00pm - Lecture Theatre 4 - Film-screening & discussion "Once Upon a Time in Ukraine" - Ukrainian action-adventure film. The samurai Akayo enters the Ukraine to retrieve his master's katana from Harimoto, who is buying slaves from a Ukrainian master, Jaromir. On his way he meets the serf Taras, who agrees to help Akayo so he can rescue his beloved from Jaromir.

Q&A with the film director Roman Perfilyev and filmmaker Eugene Koshin.

6.30-8.00pm - HIVE - Ukrainian traditional dancing workshop - Oleksandra Zinovieva and "Ukrainian Blossoms" ensemble

  • 2.30pm - presentation about Ukrainian symbols and proverbs

  • 2.50pm - a short film context introduction (by Eugene Koshin, cinematographist)

  • 3.00pm - Film-screening "My Thoughts Are Silent" ** (104 min), Q&A
