"Безславні кріпаки" (2020) – "Once Upon a Time in Ukraine" – action-adventure film (90 min)

The samurai Akayo travels to Ukraine to retrieve his master’s katana from Harimoto, a trader purchasing slaves from a Ukrainian master, Jaromir. Along the way, Akayo encounters the serf Taras, who agrees to help him in the hope of rescuing his beloved from Jaromir’s grasp.
Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with the film director Roman Perfilyev moderated by a filmmaker Eugene Koshin.

Ivan Firtsak (born 1899 in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine) was a weightlifting champion of Czechoslovakia, a bodybuilding champion of Europe. He earned the nickname Strong Ivan Croton for his incredible strength. Ivan Firtsak won a great number of single combats with famous wrestlers of the world. From hands of the Queen of England he received a helmet and a belt decorated with gold and diamonds. American press called him the strongest man of the XX century. In 1937 in the prime of his fame he came back to the homeland.
Children’s activities will be available from 10am at the venue, including storytelling, workshops, and art sessions.

"Мої думки тихі" (2019) – “My Thoughts Are Silent” – tragicomedy (104 min)
November 9th
15.00pm – Auditorium – Norwich Castle
A sound engineer sets out to record the song of a rare bird that inhabits the Ukrainian mountains. If successful, he is promised a job abroad. However, the journey soon turns into a mystical adventure that transforms him—and ultimately leads him to remain in Ukraine.
The screening will be preceded by a presentation on Ukrainian culture and traditions (2:30pm) and followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Eugene Koshin.
