Politicians and People: Understanding Social Influence Structures affecting Climate Policy Prioritisation'
Supervisor: Irene Lorenzoni (ENV)
Clara Kübler is a Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Scholar at the University of East Anglia as part of the Critical Decade programme. Her research focuses on understanding how the publics' climate change attitudes and behaviours are influenced by politicians.
Clara holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Environmental Psychology from the University of Groningen. Here, she worked as a research assistant for the department of Environmental Psychology and the law faculty. She was involved in projects centred around policy acceptance and behavioural change.
Following her degree, Clara gained industry experience working for a non-profit start-up in Berlin, focusing on creating a future-proof agrifood sector through open social innovation. Collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders exposed her to the complexity of implementing climate action plans, teaching her valuable lessons to apply to her future academic research.
What are you most excited about in joining the Critical Decade PhD programme?
I’m excited to take a deep dive into the matter of my project and create valuable insights to drive forward climate action. Through that, I hope to be able to represent and help further establish psychology as an influential discipline in climate change research. I look forward to learning from my peers, supervisors and other staff at UEA and becoming part of its interdisciplinary research community.
