Facilities

Our language laboratory (AHB 0.14) provides students with state-of-the-art facilities for translation and interpreting and is used to teach a range of modules in our undergraduate language degree courses and our MA Applied Translation Studies.

In the laboratory, you will have access to 18 computers, each equipped with headsets, built-in cameras, specialist translation software (e.g., Trados Studio and memoQ), professional subtitling tools (e.g., OOONA), and interpreting technologies.

There are also 4 purpose-built interpreting booths used for interpreter training using Sanako, an internationally recognised conference interpreting system. Sanako simulates professional, real-world conference and public service interpreting situations.
