GPE-KIX project on boys’ and youth disengagement from education: new reports
New reports have been published under the umbrella of the GPE-KIX project, Lifting Barriers: Educating Boys for Gender Equality. This three-year project that explores boys’ disengagement from education and how gender transformative innovation can keep boys in school and learning, and support gender equality more broadly. The project has been running since 2023, with the involvement of several of our UNESCO Chair members at UEA – Catherine Jere, Ben Jones, Hodges Zacharia, Lauren Boutell – as well as our research partner the Centre for Social Research, University of Malawi.
The first of these new publications is the full report of our initial scoping study work to learn more about what drives disengagement and best practice. This included an in-depth analysis of six school-based interventions: details of these interventions included in a companion report. Also published online is a report of a London-based interactive workshop with practitioners and key informants.
