We're delighted to share that we have secured a very generous £500,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation for a new Centre of Advanced Environmental Microbiology at UEA. This significant support will enable innovative studies on microbial ecosystems and take UEA’s climate change research to new heights.
The Centre promises to transform scientific research and deepen our understanding of climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability. With construction due to start imminently, this state-of-the-art facility will soon become a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative research.
For over 50 years, UEA has been at the forefront of climate research. This initiative will accelerate our efforts by fostering an environment where researchers from fields such as Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Pharmacy can work together effectively. By breaking down traditional academic barriers, the Centre will facilitate global collaboration and pioneering discoveries.
Key Research Areas Include:
Food security and soil sustainability
Habitability; Ocean sustainability, access to clean water
Function, evolution and sustainability of biodiversity
