The School of Computing Sciences is one of the largest and most experienced computing schools in the UK. We offer excellent teaching, research, facilities and exciting course modules, creating a dynamic programme targeted at one of the most rapidly growing sectors of the job market.
Our research is highly acclaimed, with 80% rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (REF 2014). We also have an outstanding research environment, judged to be 100% world-leading or internationally excellent. In the 2014 National Student Survey, the School of Computing Sciences was ranked in the top 10 for teaching.
Our graduates are highly employable. The latest employment figures show that 88% of our undergraduates found work or study within six months of leaving, and of those, 95% were in graduate-level jobs.
Our laboratory facilities are outstanding, offering:
- Six general computing labs
- A specialised computer graphics lab (with haptic feedback devices)
- An electronics hardware lab
- A superb new Apple Macintosh Lab, which contains iMacs, iPads and iPod touch devices for our undergraduate and postgraduate students.
