How To Apply

There are four different application forms, depending on what type of student you will be. Each form is split into the following sections:

Personal details

Please enter your seven-digit or nine-digit UEA application reference number/SITS student number, which will be quoted on correspondence from your school of study (this will also be your username), and then your surname and date of birth (ie. 'dd/mm/yyyy' making sure to include the forward slash).

After entering a valid e-mail address, you will need to create your own password and follow the screen prompts.

Contact details

Please note you will need a valid email address for the contact details section. This is very important, because email is the method we use most to contact you. Please ensure that the email address does not expire as we will not be able to contact you, please also add our accom@uea.ac.uk to your email contacts folder.

Check your mail on a regular basis, if you are unable to check your mail on a regular basis, provide an email address of someone who can check on your behalf to let you know when the accommodation offer has been received.

Length of Stay

All of our Undergraduate accommodation is let for 38 weeks (with the excetion of Health course students - MED/NAM/AHP). Postgraduate students will have the option of a 38 week or 50 week licence (contract period). Postgraduate students should consider carefully before applying how long you will require for your studies. This way you can fill out the correct application form and we can allocate you a room that best fits your academic requirements.

Accommodation requirements

You should include any special accommodation requirements you may have, such as if you have a severe allergy, or restricted mobility. Please note that this information will be shared confidentially with the Dean of Students' Office.

Room Options

The room options available to you will be listed on the form, and you should put a number by each option to indicate your preference - eg put "1" by the type of room you most prefer, "2" by the type of room you would prefer next if we couldn't allocate your first choice, and so on. Please note that you will need to select every preference in order for the application form to be processed.

Terms and Conditions

You will be asked to indicate that you have read the Terms and Conditions of the Licence Agreement, which you sign when you take up your room offer on arrival at UEA. We want you to be aware that, when you apply for a room, you should expect to be living there for the full academic year, and you will be expected to abide by certain rules.

Confirmation of Receipt of Form

When you have sent the form, you will be sent an automatic email which confirms the details we have received. The next communication you receive will be your Accommodation Offer. For more details see "What Happens Next" .

Allocation Policy

When allocating rooms, our policy is to provide a mixed social environment. We try to make sure that each flat has an appropriate ratio of male to female students and home to international students, from an array of schools of study. If you have specific requirements please let us know in advance, and we will try to meet your requests.

Data Protection

Any personal details submitted on your application will be treated confidentially and under the conditions set out in the Data Protection Act. Please note that we will not be able to give out your new address to any third party - this includes your parents or any agents working on your behalf. For this reason, it is our policy not to tell you the details of your room allocation over the telephone.
