The Vice-Chancellor and President is the principal of the University. He provides academic and administrative leadership to all elements of the institution. He oversees financial security and represents the university regionally, nationally and internationally. He also undertakes certain important ceremonial and civic duties.
David Richardson is the Vice-Chancellor & President, and Professor of Bacterial Biochemistry at the University of East Anglia (UEA) on the Norwich Research Park. He joined UEA in 1991, and held positions of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor before being appointed as Vice-Chancellor in 2014.
He chaired the Universities UK Advisory Group to tackle racial harassment in higher education and was a member of the UUK Taskforce that authored the ‘Changing the Culture’ report. He is co-chair of the Advance HE Race Equality Charter Governance Committee, a member of the Advance HE Board and chair of the Advance HE EDI Committee. David is a Board Member & Treasurer of the Aurora European Universities Network.
