We are committed to creating an environment and a culture in which everyone feels heard and supported, no matter what your background, staff or student.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is a forum in which staff and students can speak frankly and openly, collect and analyse data, and come to a better understanding of the experiences of inequality for those with protected characteristics. We do this to bring about the right kind of change – permanent, systemic change – that will help to create a teaching, administrative and research environment in which everyone can thrive.

We formed the Committee as a part of our decision to address systemic gender inequalities, progressing from our Athena Swan Bronze Award (conferred in 2020) towards our application for the Athena Swan Silver Award.

Our Committee shares the values of UEA’s:

We are opposed to any form of prejudice, discrimination or harassment related to protected characteristics such as, but not limited to, gender, race, ethnicity, neurodiversity, religion, or sexual orientation. If you have experienced anything like this, please visit the Report and Support page.
