UEA Community Choir is for the whole of the university and our wider community. Welcoming, friendly and informal, it is conducted by Director of Music, Stuart Dunlop. There is no audition.
Rehearsals and performances
UEA Community Choir enjoys membership from students, staff, and members of the local community. The choir rehearse on campus from 13:10 - 13:55, every Wednesday lunchtime (except the first Wednesday of the month), during semester time, and perform either on campus or in the surrounding region, at least once a year. You can find details of past UEA Community Choir performances in our Events Archive.
UEA Community Choir’s 2020-2021 season will inevitably be affected by COVID-19. This much is clear. Our aims, which we will keep updated, will be to develop an online programme enabling learning of music for future and live (online) vocal work sessions, with social time, during the period September to December. If the opportunity arises to begin to sing together, we will seize the moment. We will plan to return to live rehearsals in January, with performances when we can generate opportunities.
You can find details of forthcoming UEA Community Choir performances in our Upcoming Events Calendar.
How to join
UEA Community Choir welcomes singers of all abilities and levels of experience, and is audition-free. It is intended for those who: want to start singing in a choir (even if they have never done so before); want to sing in a more informal way, sometimes with more contemporary music; or want to sing for fun and explore their voice.
UEA Community Choir recruits throughout the year. If you would like to join UEA Community Choir, please email us to request further information.
There is a subscription fee to join UEA Community Choir. Due to COVID restrictions, it will not be possible to match usual expectations for activities, so we have made the decision to reduce membership subscriptions by 50% this year. Membership fees for the 2020-21 season are £5.
