Train in realistic, high-pressure scenarios

Before heading into placements, you’ll train in our industry-standard simulation facilities, designed to mirror the unpredictable nature of pre-hospital care. You’ll manage medical and trauma emergencies in a safe yet realistic environment, allowing you to build confidence, refine decision-making and develop essential clinical expertise.

Our teaching staff are trained in simulation-based education techniques, helping you refine your practical skills while also developing leadership, teamwork and communication - essential qualities for any paramedic.

Placements are a crucial part of your learning. We have strong partnerships with the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, meaning you’ll get direct experience responding to real emergencies. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete placements in other settings such as specialist units and in general practice.

In your final year, you’ll have the chance to choose and organise a placement that is unique to you, giving you the opportunity to explore the areas that interest you most. This could be one of partner organisations in the East of England, a specialist unit or team elsewhere in the UK, or even an international placement experience. The choice is yours!

Paramedic practice is more than responding to 999 calls. Today’s paramedics work in a variety of healthcare settings, providing expert care in both emergency and non-emergency situations. The role is fast-changing, requiring clinical expertise, adaptability and a proactive approach to patient care.

NHS Ambulance Services - Responding to urgent and emergency cases
Primary care - Supporting patients in GP surgeries and walk-in centres
Emergency departments - Working in hospital-based teams to assess and treat patients
Private healthcare and industry - Including event medicine, off-shore platforms and repatriation services
