Economics Summer School

Understanding Global Challenges through Economic Tools and Data

The programme is suitable for students with no prior knowledge of economics who want to understand some of the most pressing challenges that globalised economies face and how we can influence behaviour using the latest insights from economics.

The programme is designed so that you will learn the building blocks of economics in an accessible and engaging way through real-world applications.

Half of the programme will focus on global economic challenges, such as migration and protectionism, environmental sustainability, technological progress and its impact on employment, institutions and growth, while also introducing practical aspects of policy evaluation.

The other half will cover economics from diverse perspectives, including topics in behavioural economics such as the importance of fairness in economics, trust and inequality. You will also discover how economics can be applied to contemporary sports and other areas that may surprise you.

As a hands-on programme, you will build the skills needed to explore these topics and more, using quantitative tools grounded in cutting-edge research and data analytics techniques, all presented in an accessible way.

By the end of the programme, you will be equipped with a valuable analytical toolbox and the practical experience that will help you understand how economics can help address real-world problems across a range of contexts.
