Develop the skills to supervise medical trainees Develop the skills to supervise medical trainees

Delivered online over two weeks, this course is absolutely ideal if you’re a busy doctor or consultant (whether medical and non-medical) who holds supervisory responsibilities for junior doctors, specialty registrars or medical students on placements.

The course is mapped to some of the competences within The Academy of Medical Educators (AoME) framework of standards for medical educators. This has been adopted by the General Medical Council (GMC) and Health Education England, as the benchmark for accreditation of clinical and educational supervisors.

Develop the skills to supervise medical trainees

The course will help you develop the skills to supervise trainees day to day, including: teaching on-the-job with developmental conversations; carrying out workplace-based assessments; and providing regular, timely feedback to trainees.

You’ll also learn how to tailor supervision to the competence, confidence and experience of a trainee, and raise any concerns about their performance with sensitivity, tact and firm action.

Learn with the Norwich Medical School

The lead educator for the course is Dr Veena Rodrigues, who has supervised medical trainees for over a decade, mentored other medical educators and clinical supervisors and held several senior management roles within Norwich Medical School.
