Checking for Visa Errors

From time to time, a visa will contain an error. This could be on your eVisa or, if you are on Visitor permission, on the vignette stuck in your passport. As soon as you receive your visa, you should check it thoroughly.

After you setup your eVisa and can access this, or for Visitor permission, after you receive your visa vignette, please check the following details:

Detail

Notes

Name

Check it matches your name as it appears in your passport.

Start and End Dates

Check that these were what you were expecting. Take a look at our Visa Start and End Dates page for more information.

Status/Type

This should reflect what visa you applied for.

What you can and cannot do in the UK

Check your visa conditions under the ‘what you can and cannot do in the UK section on your eVisa or the ‘obsrv.’ section on a vignette, including any working conditions. For UG, PGT and PGR, this should be 20 hours during term-time. For Foundation and INTO students, this should be 10 hours during term-time. If you are on Visitor permission, work is not permitted.

Other

Check other personal details such as date of birth, nationality and photograph.

If you think there is an error on your eVisa, you should report this online as soon as possible. If you spot an error on your Visa Vignette, please contact Student Life International for advice.
