Bryan

Hey! My name is Bryan Theo Mfhaladi from Botswana in Southern Africa and I am currently studying Actuarial Science with a year in industry at UEA. There were numerous reasons why I came to study at UEA.

There were one of the few universities in the UK offering my course with the full entire 8 accreditations offered by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries when I was applying. The option to include a placement year also swayed me as well as the way UEA sits as part of the city it is in. UEA is also ranked in the top 200 of the Times Higher Education rankings, which also cemented it as my choice of study.

As soon as you step into UEA, you will find that there are numerous activities on campus alone. The large campus houses an art gallery, a state-of-the-art library, a world class Sportspark which was voted the best indoor university sport facility in 2019. The campus also has the convenience of housing several accommodation houses which meant that navigating my way from my accommodation to lecture rooms was unproblematic. With numerous spots around campuses to relax, coffee shops, a sleeping room, a beautiful lake, an open space in The Square to enjoy the summer and many other places, you can always be sure to find a place which suits your character. With a wide range of societies and sports clubs, you will always find a place to belong at UEA. If you cannot find the society you desire, which I highly doubt, you can even suggest it to the Student Union or start it.

The campus is located about 20 minutes from the city centre by bus, with the buses departing for the city centre every 15 minutes every day. Norwich being also a cycle-friendly city means that the city is also accessible faster when cycling. If you really want to refresh your mind, you can even take the 45 minute refreshing walk, passing through parks and beautiful cafes along the way. Norwich, the city of cathedrals and pubs, is an amusing, fun and intriguing city which you can never finish being amazed by it.

I am here to answer any questions you have about UEA, be it about the campus or your course or even about the vibrant Norwich city. Feel free to contact me at s-african.students@uea.ac.uk or send me a  message through our Facebook page.
