Jakub - one of our Polish students

Hello everyone! My name is Jakub and I am currently doing a Master’s degree in International Commercial and Competition Law at UEA. In July 2020, I completed my undergraduate Law degree here as well, and I decided to stay for one more year, as I simply love this place.

I always wanted to study abroad, which is why I decided to go to UEA as it offered courses I was interested in …and they made the Avengers movie here! Moving to a foreign country to study law was not easy, but the help that I received from lecturers and my fellow students allowed me to overcome any difficulties. The UEA Law School and the UEA Law Society provide amazing opportunities for development and preparation for your future career as well. For example, I got to compete in a mooting competition, which took place in the Supreme Court in front of the Court of Appeal Judge. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget.

UEA offers so much more than just a library (which is an ideal place for focus and study by the way) and lecture theatres. You can go exercise in Sportspark, grab a coffee in one of the cafes and have a walk around the lake, or meet with friends for a well-deserved drink after a difficult day in the SU Bar. You just cannot be bored on campus!

There are almost 200 cultural and sports societies, where you can learn new skills, explore your passions and meet incredible people. Anything you can think of, it is likely that there is a society for it, or you can always create a new one.  I am part of the cycling and law societies, and I met inspiring people there.

I also need to mention how beautiful Norwich is. There are plenty of little secret places, cosy restaurants and positive people. Whenever you want to study in the city or have a night out, Norwich will not disappoint you. It is also just a two hour train ride from London.

If you have any questions about studying at UEA, you can email european.students@uea.ac.uk.

UEA is home to more than 4,000 students from outside the UK and we welcome students from Poland to join our vibrant community.
