What is Clearing?
Clearing is the UCAS process that helps you find a university course if you don’t already hold an offer. If your plans change – or you don't get the offer you expect – Clearing gives you access to courses with places still available.
Am I eligible for Clearing?
If the following scenarios apply to you, you will be eligible to apply for your chosen course through Clearing:
You haven’t been accepted by your current university choices
You haven’t met the conditions of the offers you’ve received
You didn’t receive any offers for a university course
You want a place at a university but haven’t yet applied
You’ve rejected an offer because you changed your mind about your chosen course or location
The Clearing process
When is Clearing in 2026?
Clearing is open from 2 July to 19 October 2026.
However, some universities won’t be in Clearing for the whole period as places may fill up before the closing date. You can find out if you can get a place through Clearing from results day on 13 August 2026.
