Graduate Opportunities in Social Work

Full time, temporary

Exciting Opportunities for graduates to train for a career in Social Work

  • Are you a graduate or expecting to graduate, with a good degree and interested in training for a career in social work?
  • Excited by the thought of professional education at MA level in a top-rated University Department?
  • Do you have some experience of working in a helping role but need to add to it before training?

Then apply for a place on the Graduate Trainee Scheme organised by the University of East Anglia in conjunction with Suffolk County Council's Children and Young People's service.

Successful applicants must have a 2:1 degree completed in the last six years (2:2 grade may be considered if experience is substantial and relevant). You will be offered a paid pre-qualified graduate trainee post with the county council for up to 12 months.  Subject to satisfactory performance in this work, you will be offered a place on UEA's MA Social Work programme in September 2019.

Whilst studying at UEA, successful candidates can apply for an NHS Bursary to help meet part of the cost of fees and living expenses. Although we cannot guarantee that all trainees will receive a Bursary we anticipate that most or all of those applying will be successful. Suffolk sponsored applicants are particularly well placed due to good practice knowledge and experience - which is one of the key criteria.  In addition to Suffolk County Council will provide a retainer each year of the MA at £6,200 with signed agreement that applicants return to work in a frontline children's social care team for 2 years on completion of the course and successful job interview.

To discuss the programme contact Inge Nijkamp, SCC Workforce Development, on (01473) 260464

Applications deadline: 5pm Friday 15th June 2018

Interview Dates: 10th and 11th July 2018
