My UEA Story: Yasmin Bali

Hello, My name is Yasmin Bali. I am from Turkey and I am an Undergraduate student studying Film, Television and Media Studies in UEA.

One of the reasons I chose UEA is because it is a very large campus university which supplies the students with all the academic and extra-curricular needs. The campus and city itself is covered with green areas and the lake within the premises of UEA is a very nice spot to go and sit down to relax. Norwich is one of the safest places in England and the city itself provides the citizens with all the necessary shops and places such as shopping malls, small shops, historical monuments, restaurants, pubs/bars/nightclubs.

Media Studies at UEA is one of the top ranked in the UK and that is why I decided to study here. Although I am a first year student, I love my modules which include Media Industries, Media Society and Power; and Analysing Film and Television. My favourite part is where we discuss what we learned or comment on thoughts in seminars.

Apart from academics I am involved in many societies such as; ISS (International Students Society), UEA Feminist Society, Glee Society, Turkish Society, Handball Society, Salsa Society and Gay Pride Society. Being a part of these societies gives me the chance to take my mind of my studies and socialize. I love my life in UEA and it has been the best choice of my life to come here.   You can also contact Beren, our Turkish student ambassador, to ask about life at UEA.
