My UEA Story: Andressa Giacomazzo

Hi everyone! I am a former Science without Borders student at UEA and I studied Environmental Sciences. I decided to apply for UEA not only because the School of Environmental Sciences is very well ranked for its world-leading teaching and research, but also because UEA is remarkable for its overall student satisfaction.

Undoubtedly, all students at UEA are supported by first-class teaching and research facilities. Academic staff care about providing students with the highest quality of academic material. UEA is also a very supportive institution and makes great efforts to help students in the adaptation process to the new environment. If you have some academic problems or even personal ones, the Student Support Services are ready to help you. There is also a careers office, where students are able to get closer to the labour market. Besides the obvious academic benefits, the campus provides a series of everyday facilities: supermarket, post office, launderettes, bank, chaplaincy, a huge Sportspark, cafes, restaurants and much more.

UEA also has several environments where students are able to relax and socialize with friends, such as the Union cafe, the LCR and a very attractive pub. UEA also has its own nap room, providing students with another opportunity to ease tensions during strenuous days. Furthermore, the Student Union at UEA offers a completely diverse range of over 200 societies and I’m sure you can find at least one which corresponds to your interests! Joining societies is a very good opportunity to meet new people from many different countries, make new friends and improve your English.

Apart from the incredible student life within the university campus, Norwich is a lovely city and offers students all they need. It has the great advantage of being very safe. It caters for all tastes, including many good pubs and clubs throughout the city. Notably a green city, Norwich is surrounded by beautiful parks. There are also several shopping malls, stores, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and theatres in the city centre. Therefore, you can always find somewhere nice to go.  Historically, Norwich is a charming and interesting city with a number of medieval buildings and other relics.
