Research culture at UEA

Research culture encompasses the behaviours, values, expectations, attitudes and norms of our research communities. It influences researchers’ career paths and determines the way that research is conducted and communicated.

Research culture impacts all aspects of the research process, including:

  • outlining or drawing up research questions and hypotheses
  • preparing applications for funding, protocol design
  • project set up and management
  • generating data
  • data recording and analysis
  • writing up and publishing
  • other forms of disseminating results, including impact generating activities and the research elements of innovation activities.

UEA is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research, research quality, and research environment and to promote and support a positive and open research culture across the university.

We have established a Research Culture group to develop an action plan and to ensure that a positive research culture is an explicit part of our research and innovation strategy.
