Call for café conversations: International Day of the Girl, October 11th 2014

To celebrate the third International Day of the Girl, which will be held on the 11th of October, we will be holding an event in the main atrium at The Forum in Norwich city centre. The event aims to explore and celebrate what it means to be a girl by bringing together both academic research and creative pieces by young people themselves. Alongside the exhibition, we will also be running a series of café conversations to be held in The Forum and welcome expressions of interest for anyone interested in hosting one.

As a researcher, the event will create a unique opportunity for you to not only showcase your research and engage with the general public, but to also contextualise your research alongside pieces created by young people themselves.

Café conversation topics could include, but are not limited to:
-      Representations of contemporary girls and girlhood
-      Girls as audiences
-      Experiences of girls in developing countries
-      Girls at school
-      Intersectional girlhoods
-      Geographies of girlhood
-      Girlhood in Norfolk
-      Histories of Girlhood
Please provide a brief (no more than 200 words) description of the research that you wish to discuss in a café conversation and send it to Tori Cann or Sarah Godfrey by the 26th of September 2014.

If you have any queries regarding the event please contact myself: or Sarah Godfrey .
