Pharmacy lecturer helps raise aspirations at Norfolk high school
On Monday 15th July, Dr Zoë Waller from the School of Pharmacy, went with student ambassadors from UEA’s outreach team to give a talk at Broadland High School in Hoveton, Norfolk.
Meeting with Year 10 students, Zoë talked about her career path and explained how she became a Pharmacy Lecturer via her role models, inspirations, and her love for Science. With the focus on inspiring students to aim higher and think about their options post 16, the workshop also helped the students to think about their strengths and their future aspirations.
One student said that they “now have a great idea of what happens after secondary school” with another saying that it “doesn’t seem as scary and daunting”. Zoë says “it was really lovely to meet with the pupils; hopefully I have altered their perceptions about what a Scientist looks like, we are certainly not all men with mad hair, glasses and facial hair! Perhaps I will see some of them in a few years applying to study Pharmacy at UEA!”
